Kentucky Fried Rice @ NAFA - 27/09/24

In front of a full-house crowd packed into the cosy Parlour tent, local gem Indy C was in fine form for her NAFA 2024 debut performance. Secure in her skin at 45 years of age, Indy is a straight shooter, not one to mince her words and this made for a hilarious hour of comedy.

Her material covers what you’d expect from a middle-aged woman whose multicultural identity is from all corners of the planet: being a black woman, the ups and downs of weight loss, the minefield of online dating, and the exploration of her sexuality. This assemblage of her trialled and tested comedic material makes for some big belly laughs.

It’s hard not to connect with Indy by the way she draws you in with her humility, coupled with her beaming smile that is most endearing. Fond of four-letter words, she makes you feel like you’ve known her for ages and you’re catching up for a beer and a chat, with plenty of crowd interaction and dialogue to boot.
