This intimate show was a fantastic way to round out the weekend with a final NAFA set from Katie Richards and her band in the Bunker at Strand Park. Although it was their fourth performance for the weekend, these seasoned musicians still had plenty of good vibes to share with the audience who gathered to hear some original tunes spanning Katie’s 15-year musical career.

Playing mid- and up-tempo gems, and dabbling in elements of country rock to reggae and folk pop, Katie shared songs about love and heartache, death and wellbeing with her dulcet voice on point. She provided some context to a few of her songs, particularly one which commemorated her departed friends in heaven, and another lyric taken from her friend’s poetry which she credited to him.

Warm and welcoming from start to finish, the band’s performance served as the perfect tonic for a Sunday afternoon. With her time in Townsville drawing to a close, Katie kindly gifted some of her merch to the audience as a sign of gratitude. Hopefully, we’ll see these guys back up here again in the future.
